**The Epilepsy Foundation is closely monitoring the evolving situation surrounding COVID-19 (coronavirus). In light of the updated CDC and World Health Organization guidelines, we have modified the Kids Crew 10-Day Challenge campaign to fit the new social distancing standards. We encourage you to continue to practice these social distancing and handwashing guidelines.  We appreciate your continued support during this challenging time.**

Do your children like to participate in sports? Do you want them to eat healthily and be active? Well, now they earn an Athletes vs Epilepsy Kids Crew pin by being active and healthy. The Athletes vs Epilepsy Kids Crew 10-Day Challenge encourages them to be active and eat healthy.

Step OneBecome an Epilepsy Foundation Kids Crew Member. The Kids Crew is for all kids 14 and under.

Step Two: Choose any or all of the kid-focused activities included in the 10-Day Challenge and mark them off on your printable completion sheet.

Step Three: After you complete your activities, email your signed 10-Day completion sheet to kids-crew@efa.org and we will kick, throw, and run your Athletes vs Epilepsy pin to you!

Each day, pick at least one of these ways to earn your pin:

1.Healthy Choice

In this option, kids will be challenged to make healthy eating choices for 10 days by switching out a less healthy option with one that is more beneficial. Kids will log their choices in their completion sheet and parents will sign off.

SOME IDEAS:

  • Water vs Soda: Choose water over other sugary drinks.
  • Fruits and Veggies vs Sugary Snacks: Choose fruits and veggies over junk food.
  • Make it a Meal: Making a healthy choice for your breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

2. Walk, Ride, or host a virtual activity!

In this option, kids are challenged to replace inactivity with exercise. Do things like:

  • Go for a walk
  • Walk the dog
  • Host a virtual work out with your friends or family member
  • Ride bike with family
  • Jump rope
  • Help with household chores
  • Hopscotch on the driveway
  • Do drills and practice skills for the sports they enjoy

3.Get Active

Replace a TV show or Video Game with one of these activities– Try for 25 reps!

  • Jumping Jacks
  • Jumping Rope
  • Crunches
  • Push-ups
  • Lunges
  • Squats
  • Walk the dog (around the block!)
  • Other

**If your child is unable to complete these, feel free to modify to their needs

FUN-draising Ideas and Awareness - Optional

Support comes in many different forms. Parents will help their child to accomplish their 10-Day challenge and sign off on their accomplishments. You can also help by spreading the word about the efforts your child is making. If your child wants to fundraise along the way to help support programs, services, and research at the Epilepsy Foundation, you can create a fundraising page for them here. Tell everyone what they are doing to keep healthy and why!

Here are some examples of ways to share your message. Be sure to include a picture if you feel comfortable doing so.

“[Name of your child] is working to reach his Athletes vs Epilepsy 10-Day Challenge as a member of the Kids Crew!”

“Help [Name of your child] by donating to her fundraising page to help people living with Epilepsy.”

“[Name of your child] is fundraising for the Athletes vs Epilepsy 10-Day Challenge to help people living with epilepsy.”

Use Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. They are the best ways to share your message with your friends and family about how your child is spreading awareness for epilepsy!

  • Be sure to use the hashtag #AthletesvsEpilepsy and tag @epilepsyfdn
  • Creating your fundraising page is easy. Register to fundraise here. Then, share your unique link with friends and family!

Try to complete the challenge 10 days in a row. If something stops you from completing this in 10 days, that’s okay. Pick up where you left off.
